FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
🎵 Who Must Audition?
All new students, ALL NOVAE SINFONIA MUSICIANS, all continuing musicians wishing to move up to the next-level ensemble, those seeking to chair challenge (Orchestra, only), or those desiring to join an additional ensemble they did not participate in during the prior semester, must submit the Audition Request & Enrollment Application and pay the $25 non-refundable Audition Fee.
🎵 HOW DO I JOIN NOVAE SINFONIA?
ALL NEW MUSICIANS wishing to join Novae Sinfonia for the Fall 2019 season must audition.
ALL RETURNING MUSICIANS wishing to continue participation in Novae Sinfonia for the Fall 2019 season MUST audition.
🎵 Where are Auditions Held?
Auditions are by appointment, only, held at College of the Canyons, Valencia Campus, Pico Canyon Hall, 2nd Floor. There is ample free parking in lots 3 and 5 on day of auditions.
🎵 When is My Audition?
You will receive an audition appointment time upon receipt of your application and audition fee payment.
🎵 How do I join an Ensemble?
NEW MUSICIANS: You need to audition if you would like to enroll in one or more of our ensembles. Please complete and submit the Audition Request & Enrollment Application and Audition Fees. Auditions are held prior to the start of each semester in the Pico Canyon music building at College of the Canyons-Valencia Campus. Musicians will perform for members of the SCVYO artistic staff. The artistic directors will evaluate and make an ensemble placement decision at the time of audition.
🎵 What if I am returning and want to stay in the same Ensemble?
If you are re-enrolling and plan to stay in the same ensemble you participated in during the Spring 2019 semester, no audition is necessary. You MUST complete the Enrollment Application.

🎵 I am returning and want to move up to the next advanced Ensemble. What is required?
If you would like to move up or join an additional ensemble, you need to audition and pay audition fees before your appointment will be scheduled. Evaluation and placement decisions are made solely by the artistic directors at the time of audition. See the links below for the typical skill levels required for each ensemble.
