ANDRES SALAZAR
Conducting Fellow
Andrés Salazar is an aspiring young conductor in Los Angeles, California. He recently graduated from California Institute of the Arts, where he earned a BFA in Piano Performance studying with Dr. Vicki Ray. In January 2018 the Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra awarded him the first Conducting Fellowship, and he has since conducted both the Novae Sinfonia, and Intermediate Orchestra in many successful performances. While at CalArts, he was an in-demand conductor, who often lead student compositions, and ensembles. He is well versed in classical repertory, modern compositions, and has performed numerous times as both solo pianist and chamber player. An avid enthusiast of music from the Baroque and Classic periods, Andrés will occasionally conduct from the piano or harpsichord, when performing works from those eras. Andrés will continue his studies at Bard Conservatory of Music, in the Master of Music Orchestral Conducting Program.
