Novae Sinfonia Concerto Competition
2026–2027 Season
The Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra is pleased to announce the 2026–2027 Novae Sinfonia Concerto Competition.
This Concerto Competition provides an opportunity for one or more outstanding Novae Sinfonia musicians to be featured as soloists with the orchestra at our Spring Concert. Students are encouraged to showcase not only technical excellence, but also artistry, musical maturity, and a compelling connection to their chosen work.
Eligibility
Open to current Novae Sinfonia members for the 2026–2027 season
Must remain in good standing and attend consistently across both Fall '26 and Spring '27 semesters
Repertoire must be approved by SCVYO artistic staff — email your proposed piece to rachel.scvyo@gmail.com by November 1, 2026
Memorization is strongly encouraged
Audition Details
Date: November 15, 2026
Repertoire: One movement of a concerto or concert work, unaccompanied (max 10 minutes)
Adjudication Criteria
Technical proficiency
Musical interpretation and expression
Stage presence and professionalism
Overall artistic impact
Winners will be announced following auditions and will perform with Novae Sinfonia at the SCVYO Spring Concert in May 2027.
The Concerto Competition is a celebration of the dedication, creativity, and artistry of our students. We encourage all interested musicians to take on the challenge and share the music that inspires them.
