Xaman Nivon
executive director | strings coach
-
Xaman Kryger is a Los Angeles based violinist who performs regularly as a chamber and orchestral musician. She became infatuated with the violin at an early age when she saw a performance at the Del Mar Fair. After begging her parents for a year, they finally gave in and 20 years later she has loved every second of it.
Born in Mexico, she grew up in the San Diego area fully submerged in Mexican culture. It was through Ballet Folklorico that she discovered her love for the music she was dancing to, prompting her to join the youth Mariachi group, Mariachi Juvenil mi México. The professional group has performed in many different venues such as weddings, quinceañeras, parties, and once opened for the world-renowned Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, also having appeared on news channels, such as UniVision. She was also a member of the San Diego Youth Orchestra before moving to the Santa Clarita Valley in 2007, and joining the SCVYO.
Shortly after, she joined SCVYO’s Symphony of the Canyons at COC and was Concertmaster for 10+ years. She currently serves as Executive Director and Strings Coach for the SCVYO and is Concertmaster for local Santa Clarita Symphony Orchestra. Xaman teaches beginner to advanced violin and viola in SCV, freelance playing in Los Angeles, and loves snuggling with her cat Rose.
