New Members can register for Fall 2026 by August 15th.

Our most advanced orchestral ensemble. The typical Novae Sinfonia Musician has a minimum of five years experience on their chosen instrument.
All prospective Novae Sinfonia musicians are asked to audition with scales, a solo piece of their choice, and a few short orchestral excerpts.
*All New & Returning students must re-audition each fall.

Our intermediate orchestral ensemble. The typical Symphony Orchestra musician has a minimum of three years experience on their chosen instrument.
All prospective Symphony Orchestra musicians are asked to audition with scales, a solo piece of their choice, and a few short orchestral excerpts.
*All New & Returning students must re-audition each fall.

Our entry-level orchestral ensemble for musicians with one year of experience playing any string, wind, or brass instrument (including piano & percussion).
WHO NEEDS TO AUDITION?
NEW students wishing to join Prelude Ensemble for the first time. (See below for Skill Requirements and Application)WHO DOES NOT NEED TO AUDITION?
ANY CONTINUING STUDENT who participated in Prelude Ensemble during the prior semester does not need to audition.If your contact information has changed, returning students MUST complete the enrollment form prior to online registration.
Skill Requirements:
🎵 1 year of experience on instrument required
🎵 Ability to read music
🎵 Ability to play a 1-octave scale of choice
🎵 Ability to play a solo piece that best demonstrates ability
🎵 Ability to sight-read a simple melody in 1st position

The typical Honors Chamber Musician has a minimum of five years experience on their chosen instrument.
All prospective Honors Chamber musicians are to be concurrently enrolled in Novae Sinfonia.
*All New & Returning students must re-audition each fall.
DIGITAL AUDITION INSTRUCTIONS
BEFORE YOU RECORD: Students are welcome to use a laptop or phone to record, or have a friend or family member record you. Make sure your full instrument is visible in frame! We suggest doing a short test video before recording your full audition to make sure sound/video are working. If possible, please record your audition in one continuous take (Scales, Solo Piece, Excerpt).
SAY YOUR NAME / PIECE: State your first and last name, and the name and composer of the solo piece you are going to play.
PLAY YOUR HEART OUT 🙂: Play your scales, solo piece, and excerpt (if applicable). Don’t worry about perfection! We just want to hear you play your instrument.
