Get ready to play, compose, and rock out at our hands-on PERFORMER-COMPOSER SUMMER CAMP!

The SCVYO Summer [Performer-Composer] Workshop will be a hands-on camp dedicated to honing your creative skills on your instrument. You’ll learn about improvising, writing your own music, and composing for other musicians! Collaborate with others to discover new ways of music-making and perform your works during the final showcase on the last day of camp.

Chloe Villamayor

Chloe Villamayor is a Los Angeles-based interdisciplinary artist whose works explore the role of the body in the physicalization of the internal and intangible. She believes music is not simply a reflection of the world but a tool to heal it and creates opportunities for people to transform what's within into movement and growth. Her works span diverse sound worlds, from avant-garde electronics, to her art-pop solo project, Gari, contemporary concert music to performance art. She has worked with ensembles including members of the International Contemporary Chamber Ensemble, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and midwest emo band Frat Mouse.

Additionally, she has collaborated with choreographers from USC’s Kaufman School of Dance, and filmmakers from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. Chloe is pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in music composition at the University of Southern California, where she has studied with Christopher Trapani, Ted Hearne, Nina Young, Tom Hall, and Camae Ayewa (Moor Mother).

Peter Walsh

SoCal native, Peter Walsh is a versatile cellist that loves to share music with others through collaboration, performance, and teaching. 

Peter has participated in music festivals such as Bowdoin International Music Festival in Brunswick, Maine, and Festival del Lago in Ajijic, Mexico. He has studied with cellists Richard Aaron, Antonio Lysy, Ben Hong, Amos Yang, David Ying, Erika Duke-Kirkpatrick, and Alex Bozman. In Los Angeles, Peter has performed with IranShar Orchestra, West Side Chamber Orchestra, and the Hear Now Festival. Other highlights include performing at SuperBowl LX with Green Day, Walt Disney Concert Hall with American Youth Symphony, at the Blue Painted Lady in San Francisco with Mosaic Strings.

Dedicated to teaching, Peter has studied pedagogy with Richard Aaron, Nancy Hair, Johanna Gamboa-Kroesen, Shu-Yi Scott, Trina Carey, and Andrew Luchansky. Peter believes that anybody can learn to play the cello and maintains a private cello studio in Santa Clarita, California.

Peter holds a Master of Music in Cello Performance from San Francisco Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance from the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. 

Mason Moy

Mason Moy is a composer, tubist, and bass trombonist based in Los Angeles, CA. He makes music exploring intersections between extended just intonation and free improvisation. As a composer, Mason has written for the Los Angeles Brass Alliance, theBABAOrchestra, and the James Madison University Wind Ensemble. Mason has performed with Wild Up, Monday Evening Concerts, the Other Minds Music Festival, and Synchromy. He has given premieres by Ellen Arkbro, and Sarah Davachi, and has commissioned pieces for solo tuba by Wolfgang von Schweinitz and Jack Herscowitz.
